Robyn Belton's Commentary

Robyn Belton
Illustrator of Children’s Books

Robyn Belton visited QPS on the 31.3.2009. The children enjoyed listening to her reading stories about Greedy Cat, Bantam and the Soldier, Duck In The Gun as well as her very own Herbert The Brave Sea Dog. The following thoughts are shared by QPS children about her visit.

Greedy Cat...

Yesterday Robyn Belton came to school. She read us a book at the end. She drew us a picture of Greedy Cat and Wicky eating sausages. First she did it light, then she copied it. When she has finished doing it light, she did it dark. She read us an old book called ‘Greedy Cat and the Sneeze’.

Our Visit From Robyn Belton...

On Tuesday we went to the library to listen to Robyn Belton. She showed us books she had illustrated and her pictures. Her first illustrations were for Greedy Cat. We learnt she wrote secret messages in the pictures. Robyn read us ‘Herbert The Brave Sea Dog’. We watched her draw Herbert and got worried when we thought Herbert had drowned. We liked her reading us ‘Herbert The Brave Sea Dog’.

Robyn Belton’s Secret Messages....

Room 10 went to Robyn Belton’s talk show. She showed us all of the books she had illustrated. It was interesting to know what she had done with Joy Cowley. I love her new book called ‘Herbert The Brave Sea Dog’. It is really cool that they have redone
‘Duck In The Gun’. At the end I loved how she sketched the picture so fast and I liked how Greedy Cat books have secret messages.
